Arca returns via XL Recordings with her new studio album, XXXXX. Five years on from the twice Grammy-nominated KiCk i and the wider KICK pentalogy, the Venezuelan-born musician, producer, vocalist, and visual artist delivers her first full-length since closing that remarkable chapter.
Where the KICK era pushed outward, XXXXX turns sharply inward. Across 16 tracks, Arca moves through very different emotional terrains, making something darker, more aggressive, more experimental, and resistant to fixed shape.
First imagined as a mixtape before emerging as an album, XXXXX treats contradiction as part of its design. In the lineage of her mixtapes @@@@@ (2020), released as a 62-minute single, and &&&&& (2013), it leans into raw exploration, instinct, and a deliberate break from expectation.
